Many years ago, in this very spot, a young women with long chestnut hair and blue eyes was riding her horse bareback when the horse tripped over a gopher hole and the young woman was thrown from the horse and landed on her left side in the adjacent palmettos. Struggling to get up, she heard a crisp rattle and felt a burning stabbing pain in her right thigh. Sure enough, an angry rattlesnake had struck in self defense after suddenly being landed on. The young woman, weak from her wound, could not gather up enough energy to go after her horse or even to walk to the nearest farmhouse over one half mile away. Her body was found the following day and a Magnolia tree was planted in the very spot she died. If you can find the stump of the Magnolia tree you are not in the right spot because I made this whole thing up just so I could come up with a name for this cache. Have fun.
