Listening to the Red-winged Blackbirds Sing Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ohjoy!: I'm not comfortable with cachers being in this area right now. Maybe someone else can use this spot in the future when the camp is gone.

Geocache Description:

Difficulty for this cache is raised due to poor satellite reception. Look for a stump cave.

Each year, long before spring arrives, Red-winged Blackbirds (Agelaius phoeniceus) return to this area. You will find them any place with water nearby.

To me, their song is one of the most beautiful of all birds. When I hear it, I stop, listen, and enjoy. I sometimes sit on my back stoop, close to dusk, and listen to them at the pond below.

At this cache, their song seems to be constant, although it is most persistent in the early evening.

In spring time you will also be able to hear frogs in the nearby water areas.
