Geocache Description:

EASTER EGG HUNT, North Island style!
GOOD GRACIOUS - it's Friday - Easter weekend!
In acknowledgement of the annual Easter event near Springs Junction in the South Island, organised by MONEYDORK, that we have attended and enjoyed

The goddess, Eastre, was worshipped by the Anglo-Saxons through her earthly symbol, the rabbit.
The Easter bunny has its origin in pre-Christian fertility lore. The Hare and the Rabbit were the most fertile animals known and they served as symbols of the new life during the spring season.
The bunny as an Easter symbol seems to have it's origins in Germany, where it was first mentioned in German writings in the 1500s. The first edible Easter bunnies were made in Germany during the early 1800s. The first bunnies were not made of chocolate; they were made of pastry and sugar. From the earliest times, the egg was a symbol of rebirth in most cultures. Eggs were often wrapped in gold leaf or, if you were a peasant, colored brightly by boiling them with the leaves or petals of certain flowers.

To participate in the treasure hunt (for easter eggs), you are required to set a treasure for someone else to find (using GPS co-ordinates) all treasures must be hidden before 11am, with the co-ords written on a sheet of paper (a seperate sheet for each treasure).
Please set a treasure for each member of your party (so that kids, adults, visitors all get a go). All treasures must be set in child friendly locations. They must also be within 2km of the co-ordinates for this cache.
Hamilton Gardens is nearby - please DO NOT place your treasure in an exact same spot as an exisiting listed geocache!
Note that you don't have to participate in the easter treasure hunt to log this cache. It is Ok to just come along and socialise.

1. Discretely, and unobserved by non-cachers, hide an Easter goodies gift within 2km of the event - must be rodent proof! Can be chocolate, geocoins, related swag.
Remember that a river crosses nearby - please think - can we easily walk to the location from the event WP!
It's ok though to use a vehicle to get close to the treasure WP. However riverwalks, the gardens and parks will require you to walk.
One treasure hidden for each member of your team, so that ALL can participate please!

2. Take a waypoint of the hide, write this and a hint on a piece of paper. Hand this in at the event location - there will be a large container marked for this.

3. You will need to sign in at the event location.

4. At 11.30am we will draw out the waypoint notes and start hunting - you have one hour to hunt and return.
Return for show and tell, mingle and chat.

5. At approx 12.30pm there will be a lucky draw

6. If weather is fine, then there is room to spread out for a picnic. Share, chat and mingle.

This event is timed for 11am start, to allow those north of the Bombays, east of the Kaimais, south of the Waikato and flying cachers to attend while heading towards their caching long weekend. And for locals to still be able to attend then get away too!
