This bushwalk is along a well marked trail, which leads to the highest point on Mt Mangana. The trip is signposted as 1.5 hours return but shouldn't take that long unless one of you have little legs or a dodgy knee. Distance is approximately 1.8k from the car park to the top, elevation change of 131m.
Parking for about 6 cars is available at the trail head on Coolangatta Road here: S43 21.382 E147 17.190.
Once you reach the second summit where the tower and helipad are, head to the right of the helipad and follow the track marked with cairns around to the right. This track is a little more rocky but takes you to the best lookout. You may find stumps poking up out of the ground, however the track is only 40m long. At the end of this you will find 2 large rocks and the 180deg views. The cache is not located here.
I have moved the cache closer to the small tower. Access is easiest from the main track and there is a short 8m access track to the base of the tower. Standing with the green box behind you, the cache is about 8m from the box, on your left behind the gum tree base. I have attached a photo of where you will find the cache.
This is a replacement for my now archived cache, Solar Cells, previously hosted on GCA. This cache is in a better location to provide a view at GZ.
