Geocache Description:

My Triple Zero series is a small Thank You to the many Emergency Service workers- Police/ Ambos/ CFA/ DSE and SES (whether paid employees or Volunteers) not just at the fire station located near here, but in the other stations and depots around Ballarat. They come in response to Triple Zero calls- day or night and help in many ways to make Ballarat and the surrounding area a better and safer place for us to live in.

Buninyong Brigade (one of the four fully volunteer brigades in Ballarats Eureka Group) like many, has outgrown its station and now sports offices etc “upstairs” hence the cache name. The trucks have got bigger and changed over the years as has the gear (PPE) worn by fire fighters. Overalls are still the order of the day for grass and bushfire along with the two piece rural coat and pants- which makes life a little easier for us females at such fires, when nature calls. The black woollen turn out coat of yore is slowly being replaced by the new yellow or brown structural ensamble. The good old Australian “Lacky” sided boots not longer grace the fire ground, having been replaced with the more sturdy and supportive zip & lace up Taipan or Bunker boots. The plastic helmets with the big lip at the back now decorate station (and firefighters!) walls and have been replaced with stronger Kevlar versions with fabric rear flaps and visors depending on the risk area.

Please be mindful that emergency vehicles depart from here Code 1 (under “lights and sirens”) so if the door is up and the red/blue lights are flashing please give way. There is restricted parking in the area- but there is ample area for cachers to park off the road out of the way close to the cache.

The cache is a small Sistema with Emergency Service realted swaps- feel free to take something, but please keep to the theme if leaving something. It is a very high muggle area so be discrete and ensure cache is where you found it (as in the hint!) and well hidden.
