Take a drive down Main Street. Closely follow the directions, and the final prize will soon be in hand. The listed coordinates, which are in a gas station parking area, will start you on your journey.
If you have a letterbox log, in the final location is a "thumbs-up" stamp. Please do not remove this as it needs to stay in the cache.
1. Get as close as you can to the posted coordinates, and then look west. You will see three numbers displayed prominently about 40 feet away from you in a north-south line. L = the sum of the highest and lower number.
2. Without entering Main Street, head north from the gas station. You will see a popular sandwich shop at the south end of the strip mall east of Main Street. G = third digit of the address.
3. Continuing to the northernmost end of this little strip mall to the east of Main Street, note the address. M = third digit minus the first digit.
4. Enter back onto Main Street and drive north until you see a muffler shop on your right. (If you get a cravin' for the border, you’ve gone too far.) I = number of palm trees across from the muffler shop.
5. The Catholic church is on the west side of Main Street. Find the date this structure was built. N = sum of all digits added together, minus 14.
6. Turn left (west) onto Oak Street. (If you were to turn right it would be called Antelope Blvd.)
7. As a child, Tom Hanks used to attend movies at the State Theater. It is now undergoing renovations to return it to its earlier glory. Find the address. H = third digit times 4.
8. Turn right (north) onto Washington Street and stop in front of the historic courthouse, which was built in 1920 and is still in use today. D = total number of columns (as viewed from the street) minus the number of round columns.
9. In the NE corner in front of the courthouse there is a large rock with a plaque embedded in it. C = the number of symbols on this rock. K = lines of writing minus 10.
10. Turn right (east) onto Walnut Street. On the corner of Walnut and Main stood the historic 100-ft. Cone & Kimball clock tower from 1886 to 1984 when sadly it was destroyed by fire. Thanks to many dedicated people, this lovely plaza replica now stands where it can be enjoyed by all. A = number of columns divided by 2.
11. Turn left from Walnut Street and continue north on Main Street. After passing the Cedar Street stoplight look for the speed limit sign. F = first digit subtracted from the second digit.
12. Driving north you will see a park to your right, home to a frisbie golf course and mt. bike trails. Civil War re-enactments take place here in April. E = last digit of the posted hours of the park.
13. On your right you will see Adobe Plaza. J = number of miles to historic Adobe Park, according to the sign.
14. After you (slowly) pass the CHP office you will see a very large store featuring the color orange. B = last digit of address.
