Geocache Description:

Small (some call it 'micro') size cache with swag. Along the approved SDGE road. Just beside artificial vernal pool (or call it muddy puddle if you want)

Today I spotted park rangers here. They went down the road and parked beside one of the supposedly closed trails that goes to tunnel 4, mesa loop and "rock-horse tunnel". In half hour I've seen more mountain bikers zooming beside parked rangers then I've seen in a month in LPC canyon. Eventually I came to rangers and asked to explain me what areas are actually open and which ones are closed. They repeated the story starting from 2008 when city closed everything beside the main NS SDGE road. But, because it takes so long to get to agreement about the trails, and people do need to exercise, and this area has the best MB trails in SD, they are putting a blind eye on responsible use of the trails. Rangers even put a few signs explaining vernal pools and asking people to avoid stepping or riding through them. However, they warned me not to go through any of the fences (fences have plenty of holes). That is Fish and Game territory, and officers put hidden cameras and give tickets to people (when I mentioned $475 his side note was: a few people who got a ticket, court usually settles them for $100 - just so you know, God forbid you need it). So called "Rock-horse trail" is one of the trails that goes just for a short distance through the fenced area and FG officers love to place camera there.
So, take it for what it's worth, use your own judgement. And of course, this doesn't in any way change where we can place caches

With the blessing from rangers, I dove into Tunnel #4 and after some GPS navigation (and taking a wrong turns a few times, got to E end and scored smiley with "Rhode's Xing"

Be stealth. Hide it well!
