Barnwood Park/Tatty's Treasure Wherigo Cache

Mzebonga: I've tried a couple of times to find a new hide for this one and I haven't found a secure hide for anything other than a micro cache in a location that fits the current flow of the cartridge.

Barnwood Park is a lovely spot to visit (and a frequent venue for Geocaching meetups) so I feel like it deserves more than a single cache dominating a spot in the middle. I've considered re-working the Wherigo to have multiple micro caches along the route but I really don't have the time for that sort of rebuild at the moment.

It's been a tough decision to reach because this is one of my favourite caches that I've hidden and I have loved the many logs and feedback about this little Wherigo. A huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to visit and apologies to the final few visitors who came away empty handed.

Geocache Description:


A beginner's Wherigo cache will take you on a short tour of Barnwood Park.
Access to areas of the park is restricted after dusk meaning that this cache is not available 24/7.
Barnwood Park is a small urban park in the Barnwood ward of Gloucester, UK. It's a popular spot for locals and sports a large amount of wildlife (both flora and fauna). This beginners Wherigo cache gives two options for play: either a tour of the park highlighting a few of the local points of interest or a short story about a squirrel named Tatty for younger players. Barnwood Park Tour

The Barnwood Park tour provides a short and simple walk around Barnwood Park that also takes in the Arboretum. The cartridge will show you some of the particular features that can be found in the Park, including some of the flora.

Tatty's Treasure

The "Tatty's Treasure" story is designed for much younger cachers. The story makes reference to some of the animals that can be found in the Park and puts it together in a simple treasure hunt storyline that leads to the final cache.

This cache is designed to be a simple game cartridge to help induct new cachers into the world of Wherigo! You can download the cartridge from this link.

Once you've completed the cache, please remember to log your find on the Wherigo website in one of the two following ways:
  • Upload the save game cartridge (the cartridge will automatically save when you reach the final waypoint). This option is usually only available from Garmin devices.
  • Enter the Completion Code that is provided in the cartridge (this will be saved as an item in your inventory, so you can access it at any time after completion simply by loading your save game). If the Completion Code is not accepted, try using the first 15 characters only.
