Geocache Description:

This small trading cache is just before the official start of the Haswell to Hart Walkway. This walkway is part of the old rail lines from South Hetton to Haswell

The Haswell to Hart Walkway runs from Haswell to Hart Station for approx. 9 miles. It follows the former railway line between Haswell and Hartlepool which was built to transport Coal. It was designed by the famous engineer George Stephenson, who built the Rocket, and was opened in 1835 to divert the coal trade towards Hartlepool. The path has an interesting history which represents the diverse range of urban, industrial and rural landscapes in the area.
