This cache was placed for the “Call On” The Campbell’s Event on July 7, 2012.
There are lots of signs that Pileated Woodpeckers inhabit the area. Although they are our largest woodpecker, these shy birds manage to keep themselves very well hidden. Woody The Woodpecker was designed to be in the likeness of the Pileated.
Caches in this series are in a woodlot with no marked trails. Walking can be difficult in some areas, although certainly not impossible. There are areas of bare ground, but fallen logs can be slippery. It may be easier to access these caches by walking along the perimeter of the woodlot, but please be respectful of the surrounding farm land.
Please be respectful of campground sites and make use of designated trails. The area is well populated with animals, so please leave no food and re-hide the cache before leaving. Conservation Authority Personnel remind us that there is a small entry fee into the Conservation Area. When the attendant isn't present, there is a self-service drop box by the gate house. Also make note of the park hours as the entrance gates are locked each night. Please remember that off trail hiking is discouraged as it negatively impacts on the environment. Please rehide cache carefully. There are a lot of exploring young muggles, especially during the camping season.
