Geocache Description:

Net als de snelle hap, een oppikker en weg wezen. Meer dan voldoende parkeerplaats, behalve op vrijdagavond of zaterdag.

In 1968 maakte baron Vaxelaire, oprichter van een grote Belgische distributiegroep, een studiereis naar de Verenigde Staten. De legende vertelt dat terwijl ze over de Grand Canyon vlogen, hij aan zijn rechterhand vroeg een team naar hier te sturen om het concept van de fastfoodrestaurants te onderzoeken. Deze restaurants waren in Noord-Amerika bezig aan een succesvolle opmars.

Twee jaar later vond de idee ook hier ingang, en de distributiegroep richtte een eigen hamburgerketen op, een première in Europa.

1971: de 2 eerste Europese hamburgerrestaurants openen hun deuren in Schoten, in de provincie Antwerpen, en in Waterloo, ten zuiden van Brussel, op de parking van plaatselijke hypermarkten. Naast tal van vernieuwingen werd ook als eerste het concept van de drive-in in Europa ingevoerd.

Krediet voor de naam van de cache gaat naar Carolien van "Team Bacardi" die steevast een bezoek aan het nabij gelegen restaurant omschreef als "Gaan we een vluggertje doen?"

The legend goes that baron Vaxelaire, founder of a large Belgian distribution chain made a trip to the USA in 1968. While flying over the Grand Canyon he asked his staff to send a team over and investigate the concept of fastfood restaurants that was becoming a big success in the United States.

Two years later the distribution chain started their own chain of hamburger restaurants, the first of its kind in Europe.

1971: the first two European hamburger restaurants opened their doors: one in Schoten and one in Waterloo.
Also the concept of the nearby drive-in was introduced in mainland Europe by the restaurant chain.
