Geocache Description:

November 4, 1999 I moved to this beautiful little city from Big, Hot Texas in the US. In the years since, I've enjoyed thoroughly getting to know my adopted home and learning more about it. This multi will take you to some of my favorite places! I hope you enjoy it and enjoy my little city as much as I do!

Söderhamn is a busy coastal community in southern Hälsingland, with a population of almost 26,000.

A glance at the map shows that Söderhamn is situated in coastal mid-Sweden, surrounded by the blue hills and deep forests of Hälsingland and the beautiful archipelago of the Gulf of Bothnia.

The archipelago offers a wealth of opportunities for swimming, boating, fishing and enjoying the outdoors in the area's most popular spot.

The final coords are:

N 61° AB.CDE
E 017° FG.HIJ

The name of this hill is Faxeholmen. This was once the base for a group of pirates, until the Crown took it over. It was a strategic lookout for the port of Söderhamn, until the farmers burned it down. At the top there are canons. Count the number of canons. At the bottom of the hill, on a metal plaque placed on stone, it says "...bröderna till Drottning Margareta XXXX"

C= All the numbers in the year, plus the number of cannons, divided by 5.

Next go to N 61°18.228, E 017°03.900. This is the location of the original train station in town. It's a beautiful building that has been restored and now used for various companies

Take the second number, minus the third number of the year appearing on the front of the building. This will give you D, F, and G.

Going to take a little walk up a big hill! N 61° 18.047 E 017° 03.463. Oskarsborg was originally meant to be only a small practice hall for the local choir. When they went to raise money to build the hall, they met with such success that they were able to build what you see now. The tower is 23 meters high, and during the summer a number of music, comedy, and other entertainment is hosted at the location. Just kidding about the walking, you can drive up to the top...unless you REALLY want to walk! You can go into the tower and once you reach the top you'll be rewarded with a BEAUTIFUL view of Söderhamn and the surrounding area!

For this step there is a stone that is painted with a year and mentions Skansen and Polis on it. Take the year and using the third number, subtract the fourth number from it and then add 2. You now have the number for B.

Back down the hill you go to N 61° 18.066, E 017° 03.036 There is a monument placed here in honor of the king. It's situated in front of the beautiful Rådhuset, the City Hall. I celebrated my first New Year's Eve here, the Millenium one! On this obelisk you'll find yet another year. Take the year shown there and divide it by 633. You now have E and J.

Take a little trip down the road to the city's quaint little Museum. N 61° 18.057 E 017° 02.670. It's not big, but it's ours! On the front of the museum there is a year. Using the numbers from that:

The first number of the year is A
The third number is H
The fourth number is I

If you've done it all right, you now have all the numbers you need to find the cache. Hope you enjoyed your little tour of our beautiful little town!
