This 34-foot square mural was commissioned by the District of Columbia Commission on the Arts and Humanities and was based on input the artist received after meetings with community members.
The DCCAH press release reads:
“Marchand’s vibrant 34’ x34’ painted mural, titled “Community”, depicts delightful rows of brightly colored town homes set in the greater cityscape of Washington, DC. A colorful silhouette of figures across the foreground of the mural represents the diversity of the neighborhood. Marchand uses other historical references of the Shaw neighborhood to stir the imaginations of the children and adults who use the Playground.”
As usual with these city hides, coords are approximate; once you see the mural you'll need to rely on your geosense more than your GPS. As a playground, expect a high muggle factor and practice your ninja stealth accordingly -- it will probably help if you spend some time making it obvious you are appreciating the mural. Please remember to replace just as found, and don't forget your writing utensil -- enjoy!
