All Aboard the SkyLark Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Southerntrekker: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to recent logs I am archiving it.

The Geocache Maintenance guideline explains a CO's responsibility towards checking and maintaining the cache when problems are reported. Caches that have been archived for lack of maintenance will not be unarchived. This is explained in the Help Center.

Geocache Description:

This cache is placed close to an Olympic venue/race route, and will be disabled from July 11th to September 10th. Please do not seek this cache during this time. This cache is positioned under the flightpath (almost) of the new cable car that flies between Royal Victoria Dock & Greenwich Peninsular over the River Thames. Container is a magnetic Aluminium cylinder, 50mm diameter x 150mm long.

This cache listing is named after a line from one of my favourite cartoons "Noah and Nelly in the SkyLark", 1976. Just when I thought we had every type of transport possible is this area, A new Cable Car will service our needs to fly across the Thames. It was going to be funded by London Transport on it's original budget of £25million. Estimates went up to £40million when the project seemed a reality and then settled at £75million when people had to start signing contracts. This is when we couldn't afford it and a sponsor had to be found. An Airline stepped in and now this is the first time ever a private company has it's logo on the underground map, where this link is strangely shown. I hope you enjoy the cache location, viewing Victoria Dock to the East and the Giant dome to the West. It's a busy spot so keep little'ns close by away from traffic. Congratulations to Stevrac for being first to find in 1hr10mins of publishing
