Activities
Schedule
The theme for this year's Fall Fling is the Fall Fling Fair!
9 a.m. Registration (and pre-sold merchandise pickup) begins
10-1 Ammo box painting
10-1 Turn in odd container swap containers
What is an odd container swap? We have stolen the idea from the Greater Charlotte Geocaching Club (GCGC) -- an ODDBALL CONTAINER SWAP:
Get your creative juices flowing!! If you'd like to participate, bring a container (the odder the better) that you have made into a cache and we'll have a blind swap so that everyone will get a different container back. Since your container will be particularly odd or camo-worthy, bring it hidden in a bag. We'll have a table set up for these to be placed when you arrive.
10a.m.-1p.m. Kids carnival games (lollipop tree, duck pond, ring toss, etc.)
10-Noon Geo-Poker Run
What's a Poker Run? There will be 5 nearby temporary caches where sealed envelopes of poker cards will be hidden. At the start, you'll be given the five cache coordinates and a time limit. After you collect an envelope from all five caches, you'll return to the event coordinates (with your envelopes still sealed) and make the best poker hand from the cards you've collected (no trading allowed). Prizes will be awarded for the three highest hands!
2 p.m. Pinata!
2:30 p.m. Pick up different odd container (if you turned one earlier)
3:30p.m. Dinner at the mess hall
5 p.m. Closing and silent auction/raffle winners
8 p.m. Gate closes and locks for the day.
All Day Activities (10 a.m.-3 p.m.):
- GeoBingo (meet some new folks)
- GPS accuracy game
- Visit the Trackables station
- Silent auction and 50/50 raffle
- NCGO information booth
- Pickup cornhole, horseshoe, and bocce games
Camping
You have camping choices for this years' Fall Fling.
You can stay in one of Camp Lapihio's (pronounced Lappy-hi-ho) beautiful cabins. Each cabin sleeps 4 people. The cabins do not have electricity. There is also one handicapped-accessible cabin that sleeps 6 that does have electricity and its own bathroom and shower. There is also a big shower facility for all cabin campers.

Please let us know in your log if you plan on staying in one of the cabins. Reserve your cabin or bed space in the NCGO Fall Fling Store .
Umstead State Park does have drive-to family camping. There are 28 drive-to campsites for tents and a limited number of sites for small recreational vehicles. There are no electrical/water hookups. You can reserve a site at the State Parks web page.. You are on your own there for reservations!
Food
Dinner will cost $5 per adult with children under 5 free with paying adult. Please do post a "will attend log" to let us know if you can come and how many people will eat dinner and how many adults/kids will be in your group as we need this information to plan for food/drink purchases and activities. However, you will need to pay for your meal tickets in the NCGO Fall Fling Store before the event.
Menu
MrsBillwolf1 and Mr. Horsegeeks have revealed the menu:

This event will be a great chance for North Carolina geocachers and our neighbors to the north, south and west to spend a little time in a less hectic setting just getting to know each other while enjoying the 4F's of events: Food, Finds, Friends, and
Fellowship which result in the all important 5th F -FUN!
