Yowaka Cascades Traditional Cache

The Yowaka River is a scenic river with many different aspects. It begins it’s journey to the sea in the hills West of Nethercote, and meanders through bush and farm land joining the Pambula river at Pambula South and into the sea from Pambula lake.
This cache is the third along the Yowaka River, and is in an area that most locals do not know this part of the river exists. It’s a popular scenic area one spot is Nethercote Falls, off Back Creek Road where the “Nethercote Falls ” cache awaits the avid cacher. The Yowaka then meanders under the Nethercote Road at and descends down a cascade of waterfalls and pools where the “Yowaka Cascades Cache” gives spectacular views of the cascades and along the river to the long quiet pools below. The river then passes through farmland where it meets the tidal influence then passes under the Princes Highway at Pambula South where the cache “Yowaka River” (boat/canoe only) watches over its convergence with the Pambula River, to flow into Pambula Lake and out to sea at Pambula Beach. Access to the cache is on a track opposite (West) of the forestry track named “Casey’s Trail” which is on the Broadwater Forest road. Broadwater Forest road can be entered from the Princes Highway mid way between Pambula and Eden or from the Eden to Nethercote road 7km West of Eden. A Picnic area with tables and wood BBQ and access to the river is 1 km further North from the Casey’s Trail Intersection., there is a parking area a short distance further on at the side of the Broadwater road. At the cache location keep an eye on the Geokids as the walls of the river are steep and may be slippery when wet. The cache container is a small, snap lock 300ml plastic container, with room for small swaps.
