ABOUT THE LOCATION
Chiang Mai Railway Station (สถานีรถไฟเชียงใหม่) is the final stop for trains headed North from Bangkok. The station is located east of Ping River and just a few minutes from the popular night market area and Tha Pae gate. Chiang Mai station was opened for service 1922, but only reached other towns in the region. It wasn't until 1933 that the line was extended to make travelling from Bangkok to Chiang Mai possible. The original Chiang Mai Station building was destroyed by bombs from Allied Forces on December 21, 1943. It was rebuilt in 1945 and re-opened for full services in 1948.
