Este es un sencillo y rápido cache, que intenta rellenar un poquito el gran hueco que hay actualmente en el mapa de geocaching del centro de la villa. En realidad me hubiera gustado ponerlo justo en el puente que cruza la Castellana (siguiendo la línea de “en to’l medio”) pero ahí no hay escondite factible, así que lo he instrumentado en forma de un multi muy simple: en las coordenadas señaladas encontraréis las finales, ligeramente disimuladas, que os llevarán a un punto cercano del Museo de Escultura al Aire Libre, que está literalmente a tiro de piedra.
El museo se inauguró oficialmente hace 40 años, y atravesó algunas vicisitudes inicialmente, aunque está ya consolidado como una atracción menor, pero no despreciable, para los amantes del arte moderno que visitan nuestra ciudad. De entre la colección de sus 17 obras, situadas a ambos lados de la Castellana, seguro que hay alguna que os gusta, dado lo variado de sus estilos, aunque no seáis muy “artísticos”.
El cache es un tarro de plástico de pequeño tamaño, sólo con el rollito de firmas, un lápiz y algunas monedas. Dado lo errático de la señal GPS en la zona, he incluido una foto spoiler para facilitar la tarea. Hay cámaras de TV por los alrededores para proteger las esculturas, pero creo que el cache está a cubierto de sus miradas. Sin embargo aconsejo mucho ojo con los numerosos paseantes que pueden aparecer inesperadamente por varios puntos. Suerte.

This is a quick and simple cache which hopefully will help to fill somewhat the current large void in the center of the Madrid Geocaching map. In fact, I would rather have put it in the middle of the bridge over the Castellana avenue, but there is no feasible hiding place there, so I have organized it as a very simple multicache: at the point indicated you will find the final coordinates of the cache, a little disguised obviously. These coordinates will take you to a place very near the Open Air Sculpture Museum, which is literally at a stone’s throw of the initial point.
The museum was opened 40 years ago, and had a number of problems during its first years, but now it has been consolidated as a minor, but interesting, attraction for the modern art lovers who visit Madrid. It has just 17 pieces, exhibited at both sides of the Castellana avenue. Even if you are not an art lover you surely will like some of them, given their very diverse styles.
The cache is a small plastic box, with the logbook, a pencil and a few exotic coins. As the GPS signal is quite erratic in the area, I have included a spoiler photo for those who want a fast find. There are surveillance TV cameras around to protect the sculptures from vandals, but I believe the cache is hidden from their view. However, I advise taking care with muggles who may appear suddenly from different angles. Some stealth is required. Good luck.
