Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the Bungambrawatha Creek, a little stream that I used to play in when I was 'knee high to a grasshopper'. It brings back great memories of childhood exploration, something taken for granted in the 'old days'. Thanks to geocaching I get to 'explore' again.

The water in the creek travels down from the ranges behind Lavington through Albury into the Murray River, a trail named after it running adjacent to the riverlet.

The Bungambrawatha Creek Trail is a flat, sealed track of 6.3 kilometres in length, stretching from Pearsall St. in Lavington to the Murray River Trail junction at the Albury Swim Centre.

In 1838 the NSW Government commissioned a survey for a township at the 'crossing place' of the Murray River.

The name originally proposed for the township was "Bungambr(e)watha" - the Aboriginal name for the area, however it was eventually struck out and "Albury" substituted, considered 'too cumbersome for practical purposes'.

The cache itself is located upstream of the walking trail close to the ranges in a nice secluded spot and it is a 200ml Sistema container with room for a logbook, pencil, and some small swaps.

Good luck in finding the cache, enjoy the hunt, and in particular, the area!
