Geocache Description:


The Chessmen Of Mars is a novel written by Edgar Rice Burroughs. He also wrote the Tarzan series. The Chessmen Of Mars is a part of the John Carter series about an American (from Virginia) who falls asleep and wakes up on savage Mars. (I was disappointed the John Carter movie was a bomb.) This novel is about his strong-willed daughter who runs off on her flier only to get lost on a barren part of the planet and encounters other people. She has to work her way back home to Thuvia. One of my favorite parts of the book is about a creature who actually is two creatures in one. One part is the head, that runs around on spider-like legs. The other part is a strong, but dumb body. This is an analogy about some people who think the mind is most important, while others think the body rules. They must work together to survive. If you can find a copy, read it. It's good old fashioned fantasy.

The cache is a 35 mm film canister. Bring your own pen. Sometimes stealth is required.
