Asbury Cemetery, also known as Armstrong or Downs Cemetery, is located in Shelby Township, West Lafayette, Indiana. Although county records indicate the earliest burial was in 1843, the oldest individual record we found was for little Marcia Jean Truitt, who died Dec. 3, 1845, a short year after her birth. It is interesting that although this cemetery was originally started as Methodist Chapel Cemetery, mostly Lutherans are buried here. While this is a small cemetery, it is still active, with burials last year, so remember to be sensitive to those who may be here with heavy hearts. Cache is a camo-taped lock 'n lock.
