Geocache Description:

Obedska bara (Obed pond) is a large swamp-forest area and natural reserve stretching along the Sava River in Southern Syrmia (Serbia), some 40 km west of Belgrade.

The pond is an oxbow lake, a remnant of the meanders of the old Sava River, whose main stream presently flows more southward. Due to its shape the swampy bed of the pond, situated between the villages of Obrez and Kupinovo, is called “The Horse-shoe”. It is popular destination for Belgrade cyclist. They usually ride a circular route: Beograd, Surcin, Jakovo, Boljevci, Progar, Kupinovo, Obedska bara, Asanja, Petrovcic, Becmen, Surcin, Beograd. The route is about 90km long but pancake flat, thus not so demanding. Mostly there is not much traffic, but some part of route are in poor condition. When someone say to go to Obedska bara, hi usually think on location where this cache is placed, but there is more interesting places in Obedska bara, as you will see in other cache with similar name. Here a hotel is located, you can visit park with wooden tables, climb watching tower or rent a boat with paddles. If you come here with car, you can park it here, and take a little walk to find the cache. This is micro cache, have your pen with you.
