This is the first cache in my hometown of Bloomington, MD during my high school years. Terrain should be easy for most everyone including kids. Flat and grassy.
Originally known as Llangollen when the town's post office was established on December 4, 1872, its name was later changed to Bloomington. Jennings Randolph Lake to the southwest was completed in 1982 as Bloomington Lake but was renamed in 1987 by the United States Congress for West Virginia Senator William Jennings Randolph.
The Bloomington Viaduct was listed on the National Historical Register in 1976. It spans the Northern Branch of the Potomac River connecting Bloomington, Maryland to Mineral County, West Virginia. The sandstone railroad bridge features three full center arches, each with a 56 foot (17 m) span and a 28 foot (8.5 m) rise. It is presently owned and operated by CSX Transportation on its Mountain Subdivision.
I grew up here in Bloomington during high school. Nice little quiet community. Nearby you will find the Luke Paper Mill. We used to determine if it would rain or not based on the way the mill smelled for the day. Just an interesting tidbit about Bloomington. Enjoy this nice little area.
The cache you seek is located in a waterproof match case. Cache contains only only a log and a small trackable for the FTF. Please BYOP.
Congratulations to firemedic23 for the FTF!
