Beware the Goberian Mystery Cache
DasHummel: This one had a good run. Hopefully some people learned something about the history of The Iditarod and Togo (not Balto). Our Togo (Goberian = Husky + Golden Retriever) has passed on and Koda, another Goberian, has replaced him. Thanks to everyone who took the time to research this one.

Cache IS at the listed coordinates. It will take a little pre-hunt research in order to decipher the code to gain access to the cache.
Cache is on CO's property so please don't be concerned if anyone is outside and feel free to wave. Owner has pet that is often outside. Cache location is beyond the invisible fence. This doesn’t guarantee that he won’t cross the threshold, but he is younger, generally friendly, and playful.
There is an annual (sometimes controversial) race, started in 1973, held in early March every year. This race is used to commemorate the "Great Race of Mercy" in 1925. There is some debate over which participant is the real hero of this historic event. One was given a statue in Central Park and had a trilogy of movies made depicting his adventures. The other, regarded by many in the sport to be the true hero, did not receive equal recognition.
1. Find the name of this second, mostly forgotten hero.
2. Assign each letter in the name a number (A=1, B=2….Z=26)
3. Take the single number or the 2nd digit of each number corresponding to each of the letters to get the required code.
4. At the above coordinates, you will need this code to gain access to the cache. After code is dialed in, push 2 buttons on each side simultaneously to open. Please be sure to mix up code AFTER closing device.
Since location is fairly residential, pursuing this cache at night is not recommended.
