The aim of the Secret Swindon caches is to bring people to areas of interest or importance within the town. So often we are too busy with day to day life that we stop to look and see the world around us and learn a little more about it.The numbering of the Secret Swindon caches relate to the order in which they were placed and may not necessarily be the order in which you would wish to complete them. Please bring your own pen and re-hide the caches well so they can’t be spotted from any angle.
Victoria Hospital was built in 1887 and was so-named to mark Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. It was Swindon’s primary hospital for the first few decades of its existence and has since played host to various NHS services and was lastly a mental health facility before its closure.
It is currently being redeveloped into housing, although some original features are due to remain. Reputedly haunted, watch out for who may be looking back as you look up into its windows!
