The published coordinates are the best place for you to park and begin your trek. You will hike the Section 36 Trail to find two plaques, which contain information to help you determine the final coordinates for this cache. Sections of the trail may be muddy during winter and spring, so I recommend sturdy shoes or hiking boots.
Waypoint 1
Look at the plaque on the bridge post, which has two years listed upon it. Add together the digits of those years to get AA. Multiply AA by 29 to get BBB. Then continue your trek up the hill to the next waypoint.
Waypoint 2
Look at the plaque on the bench, which has two years listed upon it. Add together the digits of those years to get CC. Multiply CC by itself (CC x CC) to get DDD. Look for the author of the quote upon the plaque. Let the number of letters in the author's first name be E. Multiply E by 3 to get FF. Add DDD and FF to get GGG.
Now plug numbers into the following pattern to determine the final cache coordinates:
N 44° 39.BBB W 123° 15.GGG
The checksum of all digits in the final coordinates is 65.
After the second waypoint, continue your trek up the hill to the cache. You will encounter a trail junction shortly beyond this waypoint... proceed straight ahead rather than turning right.
The container is a well-hidden small lock-and-lock. Please use both sides of the log sheets! After you have signed the log, please replace it in its plastic bag, snap the lid securely closed on all four sides, and cover the container with "natural" camo so that it is not visible from either side. Muggles might be an issue, so please be aware of your surroundings when retrieving and replacing the container. Although you can retrace your steps, I recommend continuing the hike as a loop.
