Ye Old Oak Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Red Duster: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

This is No.2 Cache in the circular route around Polstead. The cache can be searched for independently of the other 2 but is best included in the route. The search will take you off-road onto the footpath and is quite easy to find. The going is good and the tree lined lane is pretty especially in the Spring. Parking can be at the entrance to the footpath but please don't block the entrance.

This again is a log only cache. Your looking for a film canister so take a pen. This is a good half way point in the route to start if you prefer, and then go onto cache No.3 which is through Dollops Wood (Blue-Bell Wood in Spring). You will notice Oak trees along this path that were Pollarded (cut about 8-10' high, to encourage multiple straight growth from the stem) in their time for firewood, tool handles, and construction timber. Pollarding trees actually increases the life span of the tree. Keep an eye out in this area for deer. They will be either Muntjac which are the oldest known deer, appearing 15–35 million years ago, or Roe deer.
