Geocache Description:

Constructed as part of the Kapalua Resort development, this million-gallon earthen reservoir serves the needs of both the community and the region’s agriculture.

To get here, hikers must take the FREE resort shuttle from the Kapalua Adventure Center to the trailhead since the trailhead is located above a private neighborhood. Contact the resort shuttle service for schedule and reservations as seating is limited - their phone number is 808 665-9110. Currently, the shuttle leaves at 9:30, 11:30 and 1:30. Pick up is at 9:50, 11:50 and 1:50 or you can continue on the trail for 6 more miles on the Mahana ridge trail and you will loop back to the Adventure Center.

If you want a real uphill workout, you can start this hike at the other end of the loop. Go to the Village Walking Trails, through the second tunnel, turn left and follow the signs for the Mahana Ridge Trail.

Here is a link to the map of the Mahana Ridge trail: (visit link)

The Kapalua Adventure Center sometimes has maps and is sometimes out of them. You can print out a copy before you go, you can get a copy if available, or you can take a pic of the map posted at the Adventure Center or at the trailhead with your smartphone or camera and refer to it.

The cache is a small cammoed container.

Bring a writing implement, water, a hat and maybe a poncho in case of rain. A snack, bug spray and sunscreen might be useful as well. Enjoy your hike!
