The Orillia Anchor Series was placed by puzzle loving members of the Central Ontario Geocachers. The geocache is not at the posted coordinates, but somewhere within Orillia. You will need to solve the puzzle below to find the geocache! Enjoy!

Shipwrecks with a mathematical twist


Bredenhof 6 June 175A A Dutch East Indiaman carrying copper "duits," silver bars, and gold ducats, which hit a reef thirteen miles (19 km) from the eastern coast of Africa and 120 miles (190 km) south of the Portuguese settlement of Mozambique on 6 June 1753. Discovered in 1986.

HMS Birkenhead 26 February 185(12/B) a British iron-hulled troopship that struck a submerged rock near Gansbaai, Western Cape on 26 February 1852.

Dokos shipwreck: is the oldest known underwater shipwreck discovery known to archeologists and dates to c. 2200 BCE.

Warwick: an English cargo ship sunk in a gale in Castle Harbor in 161(1+C), discovered in 1967.

Auguste: a full-rigged transport, run aground on the northeastern side of Cape Breton Island on 28 October 1761.

Chavez: ship in the 1733 Spanish Plate Fleet wrecked along the Florida Keys.

Nuestra Señora de Atocha: Spanish galleon which sank in 162(D*3/6) and was found on 20 July 19(G-1)5 40 miles (64 km) off the coast of Key West, Florida by treasure hunters who soon began to raise $400 million in coins and silver

RMS Titanic: a White Star liner on a trans-Atlantic run, collided with an iceberg on Grand Banks of Newfoundland in 191(E+(4*5/3*0) and sank with heavy loss of life in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history

Costa Concordia: ran aground and capsized off Isola del Giglio on Friday 13 January 2F12. The largest passenger shipwreck at present.
Grace Dieu: a protected wrecksite, Henry V's flagship, sank at berth in River Hamble in 1439.
