Urban cache located in Norwich, highlighting what used to be Maxwells pub. First licensed in 1927, opening as the Manor House, damaged in April 1942 by enemy action, it was re-furbished and re-opened in July 1984 as Maxwells, featuring Zig Zag Bar and predominately red interior.
Closed by October 1994, to later be demolished and become a supermarket.
Geocacher Chidly was one of the publicans who ran Maxwells.

Standing at the co-ordinates, the pub would have stood in the same location as the supermarket.
The cache is a sealed container slightly smaller than a 35mm film cannister.

For anyone interested, feel free to expand the series to other lost pubs you may have known elsewhere in Norwich or beyond. Just match the cache title "Spirits of Pubs Past - (Pub name)" and you're away.
Cheers!
