Geocache Description:

Yet another cache extending off of the PTA series.

When you start doing the pole line stretch of the series, you know exactly what to expect, but, hey, I can be a banal as anyone. The last few caches after the change in direction in the pole line have been named after US battleships, so I'm pleased to continue that, being an amateur authority on warships, especially battleships and submarines. My contribution to this ongoing effort (looks like about 75 more caches can be placed between here and Kramer Junction) is named after the USS Kentucky, an unfinished Iowa Class battleship. The famous Iowa Class ships include the USS Iowa, BB-61, the USS New Jersey, BB-62, the USS Missouri, BB-63, and the USS Wisconsin, BB-64. BB-65, the USS Illinois, was scrapped bafore it was launched in 1945. BB-66, the USS Kentucky, was launched in 1950, but was never completed and was sold for scrap in 1958. Why name a cache after such an obscure ship? I have a 6 foot model (1:144 scale) of the Kentucky in my den, and fought it many times when I was involved in the exciting hobby of Big Gun Warship Combat.
