A cache above a steeper portion of the Routeburn Track
The Routeburn Track is one of New Zealand's "Great Walks", and this cache is placed in a position that requires a bit of an effort on the steeper portion of the track when accessed from the Queenstown end.
Details of the track can be found at the DOC website for the Routeburn The distance from the Routeburn Shelter (carpark) to the Routeburn Flats hut is 8.8km, with a walking time of about 2.5 hours.
This cache is just beyond the Falls hut - so 3 hour in should do the business. The cache can be found in the vicinity of a large rock a little off to the right of the track.
Note: Access to this portion of the track can be limited in winter due to snow and avalanche danger. Check the info on the DOC website, or at the hut for the very latest.
