A cache on the flat portion of the Routeburn Track. No need to leave track.
The Routeburn Track is one of New Zealand's "Great Walks", and this cache is placed so as to be accessible after a relatively easy walk along the flat early section of the track when accessed from the Queenstown end.
Details of the track can be found at the DOC website for the Routeburn The distance from the Routeburn Shelter (carpark) to the Routeburn Flats hut is 6.5km, with a walking time of about 1.5 hours.
This cache is about two thirds of the way in - so 1 hour should do the business. The cache can be found immediately after crossing the Routeburn itself. The swingbridge in the photo is the old one and has now been replaced by a new bridge.
