A cache trail in a beautiful forest.
South of Chania there is one of the few pine forests in Crete. The good thing is that there are a lot of trails in this forest. It’s a great pleasure to walk under the shadow of the trees and to enjoy the views from the edge of the cliff to the Libyan sea. At the area two caches was placed from our friend wind&water under the name balconies because they have been placed at the edge of the cliff having superb view. We wanted to make a trail connecting the nearby village of Agios Ioannis with these two caches and at the same time to place some new ones. So it would become more interesting.
The whole round trip can be found at the www.everytrail.com.
The fourth cache of the round can be found at an area with many dead trees. Unfortunately the forest is been hitting by a bacterium which dry the tree and then the strong wind fall it down. Lately there are some efforts from the University of Athens to deal with this decease. The cache is placed near a huge fallen tree and is a small container.
