Pink Tipped Anemone - An Island Spirit Legacy Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The A-Team: Thank you to those who stopped to look for it and confirmed that it's missing. I suspected this was the case based on the destruction I saw the last time I passed by. This spot isn't really conducive to caching with what's going on in the area, and this cache had been going for almost 10 years, so I think it's time to put it to rest.

Pink Tipped Anemone - An Island Spirit Legacy.

The Pacific Marine Route is a driving tour that will take you from Duncan west to Lake Cowichan where you follow a seal coated logging road out to the west coast. Passing beautiful rivers and streams and lakes you will wind your way to Port Renfrew, a small village on the ocean. With an access point to both the West Coast Trail and Juan deFuca Marine Trail plus Botanical Beach, the population of Port Renfrew swells considerably in the summer. You can continue south east along the coastal highway making your way into Sooke, then Langford and back to the Trans Canada Highway just north of Victoria. Keep in mind logging trucks are active on this road, keep your headlights on and eyes off the gps when driving.

All the Island Spirit Legacy Caches are within a 2 steps of the trail, there is no need to bushwack or trample the vegetation unless otherwise noted.

Pink Tipped Anemone

While they might not look like it, sea anemone are predatory animals. Pink Tipped Anemone can be found in large groups in the tidal zone, growing side by side. These large groups are usually genetic clones of each other. Anemone use their tentacles capture prey that come close enough by injecting tiny harpoons, which is why they feel ‘sticky’. The prey is then passed to their mouth located in the center of the tentacles. This mouth, by the way, is where food goes in and waste comes out.
