Swamp Rats™ Perform Druid Rites Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Isonzo Karst: Time to put this one away, 25 Swamp Rats™ attended, plus one swamp rat.

Who knew that so many would ride the A train out into the boonies like this?

My thanks to all who made the trip, it was fun.

I enjoyed the logs on the event, thanks for that, and for the pics as well. And logs on some of the nearby caches make for fun reading too.

Hats off to the extreme multi group of RCT jimbo6308 and Curious GEO - BPI Roundabout AND Chapter 2 Return by River in one day - on foot.... nuts, just nuts. ;-)

Gotta do it again sometime.

Geocache Description:

Roughly 10 am to 11ish.
A bit late in morning, to give any hikers time to get here. Your hosts will supply modest refreshments (ie, brownies).

"What manner of Druid rites be they?", you ask wondering. Me, being clueless about Druid rites, suggest that some form of dance will be performed; fidgeting about, if it's warm, dodging mosquitoes. Perhaps something to ask the gods for success in the upcoming Wilderness parks special opportunity hog hunt? (3 NIGHTS, Jan 23-25). We can dance for success for hunters of feral tupperware too.
Maybe someone will demonstrate the LASF dance?
Hogs have kindly tilled the dance floor.

To get here, take the A train, exit at 54th for the connecting red bus.

Wait, no.....

To get here, load the coords and chase the arrow. Eventually you'll arrive. You may be wet. Someone else may also be here, and that's the event. Wheee! it's a party. All the nut jobs in one place doing whatever it is that they do.

Sorry, no fern bar here, but for those of you can't get through the day without a bar visit, I can just about guarantee that there will be one along your approach - as long as you don't come in by parachute, or 'copter (though that would be very flashy and cool). Wearing a parachute will put you strongly in the running for the most coveted Swamp Rats Fashion Award.
You know you want it.

Terrain is rated as hike, assuming fairly dry winter conditions. Boat would be pleasant. Hike and swim would not be far in total travel.

Additional Hints (Decrypt)

[easy approach as boat cache, pleasant as a hike from the north - interesting as hike + swim from the south. Swimmers will be awarded applause, at a minimum ]
