Geocache Description:

Maria Lanakila, which means Our Lady of Victory, is located in downtown Lahaina. The Catholic Church was established in 1846 by Father Aubert of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Mary and Jesus.

The stone church that stands today was completed under Father Leonore in May of 1873. This structure replaced the old adobe building and grass hut chapels that originally served the community of Maria Lanakila. The paintings in the church were possibly gifts from King Kalakaua or his sister, Queen Liliuokalani.

The church was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1962

Bring a writing implement. Please rehide cache carefully, replace small rocks on top of cache so it can't be seen from the top, and watch for muggles.
