Geocache Description:

A traditional cache near Sharpners Pond in Boxford State Forest.

At this year's Winterstock event, I won a prize in the raffle. It was a fully loaded lock-and-lock container, generously donated by Koneko. I have wanted to place a cache near Sharpners Pond for quite a while, and I thought this new container would be great for that purpose.

I really enjoy hiking in Boxford State Forest and surrounding conservation lands, etc., which taken all together some of us refer to as "Boxwoods". I often begin my treks into Boxwoods from the "Lost 50 Loop" entry on N Liberty St., P10 according to Rexrider98's list of parking places, and this entry is the most direct for this cache. You may also approach from the north from the parking area at the end of Sharpners Pond Rd, but if you come down this way, you will have a small water crossing at a beaver dam (this crossing is usually fine, with a large fallen log to cross, but at times when water level is very high, this crossing could be more challenging). Here is a link to a pdf trail map (visit link) . Don't try to approach from the west side of Sharpners Pond as most of this side (along Liberty St.) is private property.

There is space for 1 or 2 cars to park across the street from P10 trail head ("The Lost 50 Trail"). When you begin here, hike for 0.1 mile to just over a small stream crossing, and then take the small trail north (to the left). Continue along this trail and bear left at the next fork where the trail splits to both sides of a rock wall. Continue to the pond. The cache is only 20-30 feet off the trail. A simple, straightforward hide that I hope you will enjoy.

The container is a regular sized lock-and-lock container with some camouflage tape on the outside. Please re-hide the cache carefully as muggles use these woods, too.

FTF prize is an unactivated Halloween Compass Rose Geocoin. There is also much swag in the cache to begin.

Congratulations to mtnlion mothergoose for FTF!
