Geocache Description:

This cache includes a logbook/pencil, historic image, and “First to Find” prize. Mormon missionaries from Utah established four settlements along the Little Colorado in the 1870s. Look to the southwest to see the ruins of Brigham City, which was abandoned in 1881 due to floods and malaria. F.T. LaPrade purchased the land in 1890 and established the LaPrade Ranch and Sunset Dairy, but the barn in this image was eventually torn down. Cache/image courtesy of the Old Trails Museum/Winslow Historical Society (www.oldtrailsmuseum.org). This cache is part of the Historic AZ 66 Geocaching Project (www.AZ66Geocaching.com), a series coordinated by the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona and designated an Arizona Centennial Legacy Project by the Arizona Historical Advisory Commission.
