This geocache is located in Peace Park. The park is mainly grassy and flat and the hide is not meant to be overly difficult. Parking can be found in designated parking areas or along the road. Please observe dawn to dusk hours unless otherwise posted.
Welcome to the Village of Dexter and the Dexter Geotrail. This geocache is one of seven placed within the parks of the Village. Look for geocaches in the area with DGT in the name. The Dexter Geotrail is designed to take a geocacher to each of the seven parks.
The cache is not at the posted coordinates.
The posted coordinates are at the Dexter Area Historical Museum. Located in the Village of Dexter, Michigan, the Dexter Area Historical Museum serves as western Washtenaw County's link with history. The museum is housed in the former St. Andrew's United Church of Christ, built in 1883. The building was moved one block to the corner of Inverness and Fourth streets, to allow the construction of the current St. Andrew's. The museum contains a large display area, a genealogical library, a local history library, and the Corner Gift Shop.
The Museum is open beginning in May to mid-December on Friday and Saturday afternoons from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Other times are available by arrangement.
To find the cache, first find the large Millstone near the entrance to the museum. The limestone millstone was donated September EF, 1990, and the nearby plaque was erected in September ABCD. The millstone was used in the Bates Flour Mill, which was located on property originally purchased from the government in GHIJ. The cache is located at N 42 AB.BCD W 83 52.H(E+F)I.
The geocache container will blend in nicely with its camo.
Inside each Dexter Geotrail geocache will be a code. Write the code on an official Dexter Geotrail Tracking Log. Once completed, return the tracking log to the Village of Dexter Parks and Recreation office or Hackney Hardware to receive a Dexter Geotrail tag. (Tags are available while supplies last.)
