Avala is a mountain in Serbia, overlooking Belgrade. It is situated in the south-eastern corner of the city and provides a great panoramic view to Belgrade, Vojvodina and Sumadija, as the surrounding area on all sides is mostly a lowlands. It stands at 511 meters (1,677 ft) above sea level, which means it enters the mountain category just by 11 meters.
Avala is very popular destination for Belgrade cyclist. There you can almost always see some of them. From Belgrade you have to ride some 15-20km. Route goes up to the foot of Avala, and then real climb begin – 4km with average slope of 5%. This is not big thing for professional cyclist, but for recreational cyclist it can be a real challenge.
When you climb some hill, you usually get a downhill as a reward for your efforts. But on Avala reward isn’t complete. Road is in so poor condition that you must be very careful, and can’t reach a maximum speed.
This is micro cache, bring your pen with you, please.
