Hekinan Station is a door entrance of Ohama Teramachi area with many shrines and temples. Ohama Jinya Park in the northern part of Ohama Teramachi had renewal opening in 2008. Ohama Jinya was established in 1769. All buildings of the Jinya were demolished in 1887. The Jinya was like a branch of the public office in Edo era. This monument has been restored to the wooden one even though it was made of bronze during the World War II. Kaitokuji temple was established in 1462. The wooden Amida Nyorai Sitting Statue with which was familiar as Ohama great image of Buddha (4.8m) was designated as national important cultural property in 2003 because the signature sentence was found to tell the statue made from 1134 to 1136. It turned out that it was very few work at Heian era. Shomyoji temple was established in 1339. It is famous as the temple named by "Takechiyo",which was the name of TOKUGAWA Ieyasu in childhood. Ohama port was a key port of marine transportation in Nanbokucho, civil war era. Let's enjoy Ohama Teramachi walking.
Festival of Ohama Teramachi walking has been held on the 3rd Sunday October every year. Perhaps, we will have free service of miso soup with crabs on this day.
The published coordinates show the front of Hekinan Station. The cache is hidden somewhere in Ohama Teramachi area. There is a big tree with which the age of a tree is considered to be 100 years or more in the Ohama Teramachi area. The tree is specified also as a preservation tree of Hekinan City. A tiny cache with magnet is waiting for you.
