On the 2nd of March 2002 the Central Coast Geocachers of California had their Monterey Get-together " at Jacks Peak Regional Park , Located in Monterey, CA. This cache was made at the picnic. Just a Short Walk provided the .30mm ammo box, with the official geocaching sticker that went on the side and the log book.
Everyone who attended the picnic seemed to something inside the box (Including a Travel Bug)
The Picnic cache was place at this park because of all the poison oak at jacks peak.. The trail is a very gradual climb and there are no real steep areas that you will have to climb to get the cache..
I didn't say it would be easy and I DIDN't say "It Just a Short Walk" this time.. When I got back to the motorcycle I found I was about 1.3 miles from the cache and it was as the crow flies.. I didn't get tired and this was a great place to sit and think..
Acually I would rate this as one of my more pleasant walks I have had in a long time..
You'll follow a little stream bed most of the way to the cache and then find a nice old windmill and then you start up a gradual hill with a fantastic view..
As always, please make sure to rehide the cache as well if not better than you found it! The area is relatively heavily traversed and this is the only way that this cache will remain active.
This cache planted by Just a Short Walk for the Central Coast Geocachers of California. Please Enjoy.
GPS had the best lock I have seen in a long time and it Zero'ed out a 8.9 feet.. You should be able to get right on the cache with no problems.
Had a talk with the ranger and they don't have a problem with people coming into the park in early morning or right at sunset, but advised if you come in at night your likely to get asked to leave..
There is a $2 fee per person to enter the park.
