Cottonwood Creek NM Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions

Easy walk down Cottonwood Creek canyon, half way from highway 180 to Pueblo Park campground. Be very careful if it's raining, or going to rain. This canyon can flash flood, but it's usually dry. Very nice canyon, with cliffs, boulders, and maybe a rattlesnake or 2 in summer.
Take the Pueblo Park Campground road (FR 232) west off highway 180. Go about 2.5 miles to Cottonwood Creek. Good parking and camping here. No trail, just head downstream for about 2/10 mile.
***** If you don't follow these instructions it could be very difficult and maybe dangerous to find this cache. It is in a deep canyon with big cliffs so don't try to come at it from above. Just walk DOWN THE CANYON FROM THE PARKING AREA ************
The cache is in a small metal Christmas candy box. It's up out of the canyon bottom just a little ways under a small rock overhang. Had to hide it under rocks so packrats wouldn't run off with it. The cache should be pretty easy to find. Then continue down the canyon for more beautiful cliffs, boulders, springs, etc. If you go about 2 miles you will come out at the Cottonwood Canyon Campground on Highway 180.
