DO NOT CLIMB ON THE CATERPILLAR! THE CACHE CAN BE LOCATED FROM GROUND-LEVEL. AND PLEASE BEWARE OF SEASONAL INSECTS, ESPECIALLY WASPS! CHECK BEFORE REACHING. ALSO BE MINDFUL OF SHARP OR RUSTY PLACES.
INFO: Here, you'll encounter a fun geocache for the young at heart. Some will find it quickly, but others may take a while due to the many potential hiding spots for a standard micro-sized container. It is well-hidden, but very findable. No tricks are involved. It's placed in accordance with the difficulty level.
SAFETY NOTE: The busy entrance driveway serves the Roads and Bridges Division, as well as other county offices. Safe parking is available. Please use it - and take care not to disrupt the county departments' operations.
BACKGROUND: The office of the Columbia County, Division of Roads and Bridges, was constructed in 1925 and originally served as the Columbia County Stockade. Over the years, the building has housed various county administrative offices. It was completely renovated in 1992 and is easy to spot from Columbia Road, thanks to the Caterpillar bulldozer out front.
We hope you enjoy your visit to our geocache. Please consider adding a Favorite Point if you like it. This will help to raise the cache's visibility among others, especially those traveling. Thanks!
Happy caching!
