Geocache Description:

An undulating wooded walk to what used to be a round pond that is sometimes dried up. Please take care to hide this carefully as it has been muggled several times.

This cache is set in a managed woodland near Newbury and close to the village of Hermitage. This was originally placed by Olivina but adopted by 2 Robins following a period when it wasn't maintained. You can either do the short walk (half mile) started from a Folly/House marked as Grimsby Castle/Fort Grid Ref; N 51 26.840,W 001 15.965 to the North of 'Fence' wood, or you can take a kilometer walk starting from Westrop Green south of the wood. - At the very bottom of road and track;N 51 26.242,W 001 15.198.

Please stick to the paths/tracks as this is a managed estate. Note the cache itself is hidden approximately 8m off a footpath that runs past the pond, in some trees. There are a number of paths through the woods so why not take some time to explore them.

The cache contains a single sheet logbook, you will need tweezers to extract the log. Please log your visit in the logbook particularly if you saw some interesting wild life and/or attach any photos of the pond if full.

Please reseal the cache to ensure it stays dry and place it somewhere that it in the crack of the tree roots where it won't be obscured by leaves etc.

Horses are regularly ridden along the roads near the cache so please take care if you are driving on the twisty roads.

Happy hunting!
