Geocache Description:

The aim of the Secret Swindon caches is to bring people to areas of interest or importance within the town. So often we are too busy with day to day life that we stop to look and see the world around us and learn a little more about it. Please bring your own pen and re-hide the caches well so they can’t be spotted from any angle. The numbering of the Secret Swindon caches relate to the order in which they were placed and may not necessarily be the order in which you would wish to complete them.

Situated opposite the cache site, Woodham Mill is a beautiful redbrick building that dates back to 1771 when it was constructed as a flour mill and later converted to steam power in 1842. Thomas Fielden Woodham was milling here in 1820, before being succeeeded by Philip Pavey in 1829 and in 1845 by John Pavey. In 1864 it ceased milling and was converted into a private residence in 1967. A mill is believed to have been on the site since 1049.
