May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

perkwhite: Alas, all good things must come to an end. Unfortunately, that now applies to this cache.

The permit for this cache is about to expire and it isn't convenient for me to renew it now. So, I decided to trek out to Nockamixon today and retrieve all 3 stages before archiving. While this was an awesome cache to put out with a few of my friends, it's been plagued by issues with spotty coords (and a puzzle design I could have done a lot better, looking back on things) ever since its publication. I'm glad everyone who came to find this cache enjoyed it, and I appreciate the attempts all the finders did put in.

That said, I may be placing a new multi-puzzle cache in this general area in the distant future, but that still has a decent amount of planning to go through, and it will likely not happen until next summer at the earliest.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who put the time and effort into attempting this cache!

Geocache Description:

The listed coordinates are BOGUS! (You can search there, but you'll probably end up a bit wet...)

Also, this is a three stage puzzle cache. You will be able to get the location of the first stage from home, but the other two stages you will have to solve in the field. With that, let the 74th annual Hunger Games begin!

FTF: Zooming Boomers
<----------------------------
In order to survive The Hunger Games, you must have a good sense of direction...

You must use the data below...

type latitude longitude name desc
T 40.4719428 -75.2258348 Length: 0.46 km (0.286 mi)
T 40.4721387 -75.2253842
T 40.4720570 -75.2245903

You can find the location of your first destination here below.
T 40.4720897 -75.2239466
Remember, follow themockingjay and nothing bad will happen to you, ok?

You also must be able to anticipate the Gamemakers' tricks in the arena...
T 40.4723835 -75.2235174

We all look over at Wiress, who's circling around murmuring, "Tick, tock. Tick, tock." "Yeah, we know. Tick, tock. Nuts is in shock," says Johanna. This seems to draw Wiress in her direction and she careens into Johanna, who harshly shoves her into the beach.
T 40.4729548 -75.2234745
"Tick, tock," Wiress says, surfacing to consciousness for a moment and then going back under. Twelve bongs last night. Like it was midnight. Then lightning. The sun overhead now. Like it's noon. And lightning.

While the others collect our few possessions and get Beetee back into his jumpsuit, I rouse Wiress. She awakes with a panicked "tick, tock!"
T 40.4736241 -75.2235603
Then he sits back. "Well, it's a lot more than we knew this morning, anyway." We all nod in agreement, and that's when I notice it. The silence. Our canary has stopped singing.

You also must be able to know whom to trust and who not to trust...
T 40.4740974 -75.2236462

"Once you're in the arena, the rest of the world becomes very distant," he continues "All of the people and things you loved or cared about almost cease to exist. The pink sky and the monsters in the jungle and the tributes who want your blood become your final reality, the only one that ever mattered."
T 40.4744239 -75.2236676
Surely the words are enough to make anyone from 12 think twice about the plan. "But not so quick as the one that killed our fathers," he retorts. "Is that everyone's problem? That our enemies might have a few hours to reflect on the fact that they're dying, instead of just being blown to bits?"

For the first time ever, I see the hint of a smile on the president's lips. "When the time comes, I'll flip you for it." Maybe she's right. I certainly don't have the sole claim against Snow's life.
T 40.4745708 -75.2236837
I search his eyes for the slightest sign of anything, fear, remorse, anger. But there's only the same look of amusement that ended out last conversation. It's as if he's speaking the words again. "Oh, my dear Miss Everdeen. I thought we had agreed not to lie to each other."

Once you've solved it, please don't give out the coordinates. Let others have the experience of working the puzzle out themselves. I always take hint requests via email after FTF on any of my puzzle caches.

Important info in geocheck, please read before going out. And yes, it's fuzzy.
