Almahurst Farm, now Ramsey Farm, has a long history going back to the late 1700s. James Knight received a 300-acre land grant in 1784 for his services inVirginia State Line during the American Revolution. The land remain in the Knight family for 5 generations. Their history included hiumble beginns with a log cabin, thoroughbreds, a tavern, commerical breeding farm, robbery adn murder. A house fire ended the Knights' time at Almahurst in the late 1950s. By that time, Almahurst had grown to 2100 acres, stretching to Catnip Hill Rd, Keene Rd, and Harrodsburg Rd and included almost 40 miles of fencing. Almahurst was sold off and divided over the years, and the Ramsey family bought the area around the cache and remained it to Ramsey Farm.It still serves as a commerciial thoroughbred breeding facility.
The cache is a camouflaged, plstic container with log and room for small trade items. Harrodsburd Rd has narrow shoulders so it is best to pull off onto a side road or even better, bike the bike trail that follows Old Harrodsburg Rd. As always bring your own writing instrument.
