Nacellen
Vindmøllens vinger og nav kaldes turbine (eller rotor). Bagved turbinen i nacellen (maskinhus) findes det øvrige el- og maskinudstyr (se skitsen med tværsnit). Nacellen er monteret på et tårn for at vinden frit kan strømme gennem turbinen, og fordi vindhastigheden stiger betydeligt med højden over marken. I nacellen findes i langt de fleste vindmøller et krøjegearsystem, som automatisk sikrer, at turbinen er vendt mod vindretningen
